Our Year in Numbers

  • We helped 148 people to become permanently housed or avoid eviction.

  • We helped 44 people who were in the foster system as children.

  • We helped 134 people affected by domestic violence or trafficking.

  • We helped 39 unhoused families led by a single parent.

  • We helped 196 unhoused black, indigenous, people of color (BIPOC)

  • We provided 60 people with short term emergency shelter, food and transportation support.

  • We helped 12 formerly unhoused families to furnish their homes.

  • We provided consultation support for 15 at-risk Afghan families.

SKC served 264 of our most vulnerable community members in 2023, helping with emergency shelter, food assistance, transportation assistance, advocacy, referrals to partner agencies, furnishing homes, and more.

Even though we were directly involved in this work, reviewing the year end statistics as a whole is startling. It is clear to us that people in the BIPOC community, those affected by domestic violence or trafficking, those involved in the foster system, those affected by a disability, and single parent families are disproportionately affected by poverty and homelessness.

We are so grateful for the community support and grantors who enabled us to become a safety net for so many families who simply didn’t have one. We look forward to another year working with YOU to truly make a difference in the overwhelming number of families with children affected by homelessness in Sacramento county, one family at a time.
